Anyone who has surfed knows that much more goes into this activity than the ability to spot a wave and stand on a board. Not only does this sport work the entire body through extensive paddling and balance, it also requires patience and surrender.
There is a team in South Africa who are doing some incredible work in the rural areas. They have created a program to educating underprivileged kids on wildlife and the effects of pollution. This is just the tip of their program. Every summer they go out and teach these kids about ocean conservation through surfing.
In today’s episode we had the pleasure and honor talking to the founder of Small Steps. Jake and Jürgen talk about the impacts of surfing in the rural areas of South Africa and go deep on his journey in life and what gave his the inspiration to begin this great project.
